Macclesfield Green Roof
The Problem
Green roof waterproofing for an architect designed 7 star eco-house in Macclesfield, a small rural enclave about an hour out of Melbourne.
The Solution
Macclesfield is beautiful part of the world, only an hour from Melbourne but nestled in an untouched native bush setting. This was the ideal location for an ambitious eco-build house, with a huge expanse of roof area to be water-proofed for the addition of tons of soil to form a green roof. Mr Waterproofing worked with the architects, engineers and home owners in the planning stages to scope and specify the job, and then travelled to site to install and complete the job. A heat applied COSMOFIN fully welded PVC membrane was used to seal and waterproof the roof which had a substrate of thick construction grade marine ply first installed to the rooftop. Once the joins of the membrane were heat sealed the the soil and grow environment for the grass and plants was added to complete the roof.
The Result
Project completed on time and on budget, as quoted, no variations. The plants and grasses are now seeded and establishing themselves in the roof eco-system, the roof doesn’t leak, the owners couldn’t be happier with their beautiful eco-friendly green roof. Smiles all round.
